Hospice

Rev. Michelle Rennahan

My experience with hospice started many years ago when a dear friend was ready to make her transition.  Until that time, I was not aware that hospice existed or what it meant for the person who wanted to stay home and let go with ease.

Because of the great experience I had with my friend, I was able to call on the wonderful people from the Hospice organization when it was my mother’s time to make her transition, so she too was able to stay at home. I had an even better experience with the group who assisted me with my mother’s care, and I decided I would one day be a part of this fabulous organization.

That time is now. Since our Visioning meeting, several people have expressed interest in participating, and Dr. Maxine and I have been speaking with many organizations here in the valley. Dr. Maxine has years of experience with Hospice groups, and brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the project.

We were clear that we wished to work with a not-for-profit organization, so we have connected strongly with the Visiting Nurses Association of the Inland Counties, and have met with the Hospice Chaplain, Rev. Kathleen Dale and Kathlyn Curnow, Coordinator of Volunteer Services.

I feel this is a great time to give back and there are many areas where help is needed. We welcome your participation and encourage you to call the office and speak with me or Dr. Maxine, and we will keep in contact with you as to training dates and locations.

If this speaks to your heart, please consider joining us in serving in whatever capacity suits you best.  Schedules will be flexible, allowing you to participate to your own degree of comfort.  It’s about life!
