Families that Play Together Stay Together
Rev. Laura Shackelford

Have you noticed that RCSD Spiritual Center members like to have fun?  Not only do we like to have a good time, we also have a lot of activities and groups to satisfy everyone’s desire to socialize with like-minded people. Our 2007-2008 Calendar of Events is filling up every day!

Back by popular demand is the Spiritual Center's Second Annual Hoedown.  That’s right, we’re doing it again.  Everyone had such a fabulous time, and before the last Hoedown was over, people were asking when we were doing it again.  So if you missed out last year, you don’t want to miss this event.  The Hoedown will be at the Esmeralda again, with the same scrumptious food, music, and dancing.  Since this will not be a fundraiser, just a “Fun-raiser,” the cost will be less than last year.
November 4, 2007, 12:30 PM at the Esmeralda.
Tickets are $45 in advance and $50 at the door.

The Spirit of Women has been busy this summer securing luncheon locations and speakers. To kick off the season will be their Holiday Luncheon with guest speaker Dr. Tom Costa, our beloved founder. The luncheon will be at Bermuda Dunes Country Club, in the large dining room, on Friday, December 7th at 12:00.  Sign-ups will begin in November.  Don’t wait to the last minute to sign up because luncheons with Dr. Tom fill up quickly.

The Social Lights have a new president, Jackie deSpautz. They would like to thank Suzie Nixon for all she has done for the group for the past couple of years.  She helped make that group the success that they are today. The Social Lights are planning some extraordinary events this season. So if you are looking for a fun group that has events monthly, go to their table on the patio and see what’s going on and join in the camaraderie.

I am really excited.  Victor Parker has stepped up and volunteered to start a men’s group at the Center.  He is so enthusiastic and has some great ideas, so I am quite confident this group is going to fill a niche for our members.

I just want to remind you.  If there is an event or a group you would like to see formed at the Center, contact me. Let’s talk. Because if you have a desire for a certain type of group or event, I am certain there are others that feel the same way. Remember my caveat, though. . . if you want it to happen, it is like our teaching, you have to step up and be the Cause of what you desire, just like Victor did.  I am here for you.  I want to assist you in getting your group started.

Remember, we not only pray together, we like to play together!
